PhD in Physical Activity and Sport Sciences, senior lecturer in the Departamento de Educación Física y Deportiva [Department of Physical and Sport Education] at the Universidad de León [University of León], Spain.
His teaching and research areas include martial arts and combat sports, physical education teacher education, curriculum design, formative assessment and bibliometrics. He is Editor-in-Chief of the Revista de Artes Marciales Asiáticas, member of the Red de Evaluación Formativa y Compartida en Educación Superior (REFYCES) [Network Formative and Shared Assessment In Higher Education], the International Martial Arts and Combat Sports Scientific Society (IMACSSS), and the Special Advisory Group of the International Centre of Martial Arts for Youth Development and Engagement Under the Auspices of UNESCO (ICM).
Agricultural Engineer PhD, Full Professor at the University of León (Spain) in the area of Crops Production.
He belongs to the Research Group IQUIMAB, recognised by the regional government. His research interest is related with Sustainable Agriculture in topics dealing with crops nutrition, crops protection, and biodiversity conservation. His research is mainly related with products based on Microbial Plant Biostimulants and it is mainly focused in the development and evaluation of new technologies and products to improve the crops yield and its environmental performance. The research is mainly applied and it is supported and funded by collaborations with private companies, having current collaborations with 10 different companies. Since 2010, the total number of articles published in JCR journals is 26, the number of books co-authored is 2 plus other 3 books edited or co-edited; the number of book chapters is 12. Since 2010, the researcher has been co-principal researcher of one project supported by the European Commission (H2020); principal researcher of 4 projects belonging to the Spanish National Plan R&D&i, and other 3 from national calls released by the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation. As researcher has participated in the work team of one European project, 8 national projects, and 5 regional or local ones. Regarding technology transfer, the researcher is coauthor of one European Patent (EP 3 085 679 B1) and he has been the main researcher of 19 R&D&i contracts with private companies and has participated in the work team of other 5 contracts.
Full Professor of Sports Politics and Policy in the Business and Law Faculty at Manchester Metropolitan University and leads the Faculty’s Sport Policy Unit.
He is a global academic leader in the politics of sport, publishing over 60 peer-reviewed articles and 15 books. His most recent book is Entering the Global Arena: Emerging States, Soft Power Strategies and Sports Mega-Events (2019). Jonathan is the Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Sport Policy and Politics.
Professor in Tracking, Testing and Training at the University of Southern Denmark, and Professor in Exercise Physiology and Prorector for research at the University of the Faroe Islands.
He is also Chair of the Faroese Board of Public Health. He has published more than 150 peer-reviewed scientific articles and has published several books and book chapters. His research interests include the health beneficial effects of football, other sports and physical activity, Exercise as Medicine and muscle physiology, as well as match analyses, and fatigue, recovery, training and testing in elite sports. He has worked in professional football in the Italian Serie A, the English Premier League, Spanish LaLiga, China and in clubs in Scandinavia, as well as for the men´s A-National teams of Denmark, Cameroun, and Faroe Islands. He is a FIFA instructor and teaches fitness training in Pro-License courses around the world. He is 48 years old and lives in the Faroe Islands, with his wife Súsanna and their four children, Ró, Askur, Vón and Iðunn. He has been part of the implementing several evidence-based sport concepts, as well as the mental health promotion concept Act, Belong, Commit (ABC for mental health) at national level in the Faroe Islands. He is part of the Football is Medicine platform and the FiM-group of 225 researchers in more than 20 countries. He has won international awards for his research, and in 2018 he won the Research Communication Award of the Faroe Islands and in 2020 the Award for Best Annual Event on the Faroe Islands (Football is Medicine 2020).
